The Identity Restoration Kit: Reclaim What Was Stolen

For four hundred years, African descendants have carried an inheritance with a piece torn out: the names of the ancestors, the peoples they came from, the places on the continent where the family river begins. That tearing was deliberate, the Maafa, the great disaster of the transatlantic enslavement trade, began by severing identity, because a people cut off from their lineage is easier to hold. The Identity Restoration Kit exists to repair that tear, family by family, name by name.
What the Kit Is
More than a DNA test, a documented, culturally grounded instrument of reconnection. Each kit provides ancestral DNA analysis tracing your lineage to regions and peoples of the African continent, guidance for interpreting and honoring what you learn, and connection to the African Heritage Foundation’s community, scholarship, and Open Classroom so that restored knowledge becomes restored belonging.
What It Costs
Nothing. The kits are free to descendant families. The crime that severed these lineages was not paid for by its victims, and neither is the repair. The Foundation’s mission is sustained by community support and by the institutions whose documented histories tie them to the profits of enslavement, contributions we name plainly as what they are: reparative.
When It Arrives
Applications are open now. The first wave of Identity Restoration Kits will be delivered beginning December 26, 2026, the first day of Kwanzaa, the celebration of first fruits. There could be no truer harvest.
Who Should Apply
Any African-descendant individual or family seeking to restore severed ancestral knowledge. Elders are especially urged to apply, every elder’s restored lineage restores it for every generation downstream.

Universities, churches, civil-rights organizations, and corporate partners can sponsor bulk kit distribution for their communities.
